STARTING A NEW CAREER OR BUSINESS – THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

Finding new ways to generate income whether active or passive is all the buzz right now. We’ve had to learn that traditional salary-based employment may not quite offer us access to the opportunities that we want for our families and nearest and dearest.

“If you can’t understand it, don’t do it” – sage advice from one of the world’s wealthiest men, Warren Buffet. So how then are you supposed to start generating alternative sources of income, or even take on a change of career if you don’t have the coveted degree from a snooty university?

Well, let’s help you start thinking about how to discover your passion. After all, if you find your passion and do it well, the money will often follow.

First, What Makes You Happy?

We mean, really happy. Not the “#grateful” happy that one sees flying all over social media these days. We’re talking about the things that truly inspire you to want more from, and for yourself. The way to determine that is by figuring out what your values are. What do you stand for? After all, if you stand for nothing you’ll fall for anything.

What Motivates You?

The temptation here is to say things like “family”, or “friends”, but these are motivating factors in any scenario. They could even be motivating you to stay in a job you hate and live a life you don’t deserve. So try to think outside of the traditional norms of what busy moms are “supposed” to say.

Try to focus on what it is you’d like to achieve instead. Is it financial freedom? In which case, what does that freedom look like to you? Is it investing in property? Well, then you’re going to need to know if you have the necessary skill set to do that.

In the end, it’s not so much the material things that you’re going to find inspire, but rather the type of life that they might provide for you, and by extension – your loved ones too.

By the same token, knowing what you don’t love or like can be an equally powerful tool for self-asessment. This is because it leads one into the field of “things that you don’t know”.

Have a read at this article by Medium here. This is a powerful tool when it comes to plotting a new future for yourself, because so many of us believe the delusion that we know more than we actually do – and it’s a potentially fatal flaw.

Getting Creative, Pushing Your Limits.

Naturally, if you’re going to get serious about plotting a change for your future self, then you’ll also need to be prepared to marry what your passions are with that potential change. Love dogs? Try a dog-walking business. You may laugh, but the average dog-walker in London can earn up to 500 quid in a week – and that’s in addition to a regular salary.

If you fancy yourself the organic, and healthy-living type, how about an accredited course from the School of Natural Skincare? This kind of career allows you to combine something that you really believe in, with the opportunity to create a living out of that same product.

Overall, it starts by you simply reading this post, and thinking differently about your life plans than you may have before. After all, it was all of the choices you’ve made prior that brought here – imagine what could happen next?
