HOW TO IMPROVE THE DESIGN OF YOUR BUSINESS OFFICE

If you want to improve the design of your business office so that your team can be more productive, then this is very easy to do. In fact, it doesn’t have to cost you a lot either, and with these top tips, you can be sure to make the most out of your venture without compromising your general business operation.

Try and Be Creative

You need to stop thinking about opening up your offices and you need to start thinking about incorporating more variety. Open offices tend to be associated with a lower level of employee satisfaction and they can be less productive too.

If you want to combat this problem, then you need to try and have as much variety as possible. This could include having social spaces, customisable desks and even quiet rooms too. This will give your team the support that they need when at work and it will also help you to experiment a little.

Natural Light

Poor lighting can lead to eyestrain, fatigue, stress, headaches and more. One of the best things that you can do to try and improve your overall productivity is to increase the lighting. Try and focus on natural lighting as much as possible, and also try and put as many desks as you can next to the window.

If this is not possible, then install some indirect lighting. This won’t add to your employee eyestrain, but it will make it much easier for them to work.

Ceilings

If you are designing a brand new office for your business or if you are willing to renovate then you need to think about raising the ceilings. A lot of people prefer to have ceilings that are 10 feet high, so if yours are low then it’s worth considering changing that. Higher ceilings can be associated with free thinking and creativity.

If you are concerned about the cost of this then it’s a good idea for you to look at another business office, or even a commercial property.

Paint the Walls

Colour has a huge impact on the emotions that you feel. When it comes to work productivity, white is one of the worst colours to have. If you can, try and opt for colours such as blue or even green. Red has been known to reduce analytical thinking and yellow can have a detrimental impact on employee concentration.

Noise Level

Noise is easily one of the most common office complaints. This is especially the case if you have an open office. If you have a lot of distraction in your work environment, then this can lead to lower levels of productivity and even poor job satisfaction too. It can also make it much more difficult for your team to de-stress, and in some instances, it can result in mediocre work.

It is more than possible for you to invest in sound-proofing too, so it’s well worth looking into this if you know that noise is a problem in your office right now.
