PAULOS CIRCUS REVIEW

I haven’t been to the circus since I was a child and for no particular reason, we have never taken our 7 year old.  So, when we received an invitation to Paulos Circus I was delighted to accept.

My husband and I didn’t tell my son he was going to the circus, just that we were taking him somewhere and that it was a surprise.  I’m not sure who was more excited, him or me!

As we pulled onto the car park at our local Garden Centre where the circus was based, my son’s eyes were drawn to the huge circus tent and lights and his face immediately lit up.

There’s something magical about going to the circus and not quite knowing what to expect.

Getting Our Tickets

The lady in the ticket office was really lovely and explained that the show was for 70 minutes with no intervals, which is useful to know if you have little ones who might need the toilet beforehand.  There were some toilets there if needed.

We actually arrived about 25 minutes early and I expected to walk into a pretty empty tent but as we walked through, it was jam packed full of people.  I would therefore suggest arriving even earlier if you want seats at the front, but there were still plenty of seats and from what I could see, wherever you sit, you get a good view.

We sat at the top, right at the back and still had a great view.

Ready For The Show

It was cold and wet outside but the tent was lovely and warm and smelt of popcorn which all added to the atmosphere of the circus.  The refreshments were reasonably priced and there were some hand held light up spinners on sale for the children too.

We took our seats and waited for the show to begin.  There was a big countdown and the circus began.

I have to say, the show did not disappoint.  From balancing acts, to juggling, to knife throwing, it was everything you would expect a circus to be.  There was something really traditional about it all which I loved.

At one point, I looked around at everyone’s faces and it was lovely to see all the laughing and smiles.

My husband and I were just as amazed at the acts as my son was and we held our breath more than once at some of the daring acts!

The show flowed well and in between the circus acts, there was a clown that appeared to keep everyone entertained.  He wasn’t dressed as a traditional clown which I was a little disappointed about, but I think i’m probably a little old fashioned. The kids absolutely loved him and there was a little bit of humour for everyone.

All in all, we really enjoyed our visit to Paulos Circus. It was a great way to spend some family time and my son loved his first circus experience. The hour and 10 minutes was just enough if you are taking younger children to keep them entertained. So, if it appears in your area, be sure to pay a visit.

You can check out tour dates and tickets prices on their website here.

I was provided with Paulos Circus tickets in exchange for writing a review.  This did not affect my opinion. All opinions are honest and my own.
