look and feel great on a budget

Want to look and feel great but not got the money to spend on yourself? Then you’ve come to the right place.  I know how you feel!

Like many women, if I feel like I look good, then I feel great. Does that make sense?

It would be fantastic to be able to go shopping for new, great quality clothes and beauty products all the time. However, the reality for most of us is that by the time we’ve spent money on the house and the kids, there just isn’t enough money left at the end of the month to do that.

But what if you could have the clothes, shoes and beauty products you love at a much lower price. Would that information be useful?

Read on and i’ll share with you the ways I try to look and feel great on a budget!

1. e-Bay

When most people think of e-Bay, they think of pre-loved clothes and products. However, when it comes to fashion and beauty there are lots of e-Bay shops  that sell end of stock items, last season’s wardrobes and returns in perfect condition.

This is a fantastic opportunity to pick up some real bargains and great quality products at discounted prices.

One of my favourite things to buy on e-Bay is shoes and boots.  You can get some brilliant bargains and I have bought lots of great quality leather boots and shoes without spending a fortune. I love Faith boots but never pay full price for them!

My favourite shoes I ever bought off e-Bay were these sandals. I bought them for my sister’s wedding a few years ago and had so many compliments on them. They were brand new but sold without labels and a box and I got them for £12. These sort of sandals retail at around £30-£40 on the high street, so I was super happy with my bargain and felt like a real princess in them.  Not a feeling you get much when you’re a busy mom!

I find very often, if you have seen an item of clothing that you like in a high street store but you couldn’t afford it, it will pop up on e-Bay a few months later! To find branded shoes and clothes at a bargain price, just head over to e-Bay and search for things like:

  • (Brand Name) Leather Boots size 6 BNWT (Brand New With Tags)
  • (Brand Name) top size 12 BNWT

You can also check out some of these e-Bay outlets which sell ex-display, old stock and returned items such as:

Don’t forget if you shop on e-bay to shop through Top Cashback, so you get cashback on your purchase too!

2. Head for the Sale Category

Many beauty and fashion on-line stores have a standard sale or offers category on their site where you can find products at discounted prices on an on-going basis.

I used to wait for the sales to come around at the end of each season but now I think differently. Change your mindset and keep an eye on these categories to grab yourself a regular bargain.

I bought my winter coat last year from Next with 50% off. Great quality at half the price!

Here are a few of my favourites:

Next Clearance

Marks and Spencer Offers

Boots Offers

Wallis Sale

Very Women’s Clearance

Debenhams Sale

3. On-line Outlet Stores

There are hundreds of on-line outlet stores where you can find bargains every day. There are too many to list here but my absolute favourite is Amazon.  You can read my full post and head to Amazon’s Outlet Stores here.

Other handy outlet stores include:

Asos Outlet

4. Get Cashback When You Buy

Getting cashback on your shopping can bring down your bill significantly.  I recommend Top Cashback.  It’s so easy to use and nice to see a little bit of cash building every time you shop!

If you haven’t signed up, you are literally throwing your money away every time you shop.  It’s FREE to join here.

5. Collect Coupons

If you sign up to Wowcher and Groupon, you can get up to 80% off beauty products.  Spa days are also one of my favourite bargains and a great way to take care of yourself.

Latest Free Stuff is also a great website for vouchers, coupons and freebies.  There are always free samples on offer so you get to try out some new things too without spending a penny!

6. Stop Buying Things You Don’t Need

Not too long back I went through a stage of buying different beauty products.  When we are bombarded daily with advertisements and offers and the pressure to look good, it’s easy to start looking around for a change of style.

What I found was, I was just wasting my money!  I would buy a different lipstick to try and regret it because it wasn’t the shade i’m used to.  I would try a different colour top, then regret it because I felt uncomfortable in it.

You don’t need to change your style to look and feel great.   So use up the make-up you have and buy the clothes that you know you will feel comfortable in. By saving money this way you will have more to spend on things you love and will be able to feel and look great on a budget!

I hope this has given you some ideas of how you can buy luxury and great quality products for yourself without breaking the bank.

How do you find ways to look and feel great on a budget?

  1. Great post Michelle! I am aiming for a capsule wardrobe so try to really make sure that I need something before I buy – sometimes it’s hard 🙂 I always hunt sales for anything that I need, use voucher website and of course cashback websites as well. My friends laugh that I always find a good deal 🙂

    • Thank you! A capsule wardrobe is a great idea. People buy so much that they don’t need and stopping to think “do I really need this?” is a great way to save money! You sound like a bargain hunter just like me, people like us always find the great deals :).
